I am a simple girl with simple tastes. I like products that make my skin look plump and firm. I also like my products to smell like an English garden in May (June is too hot and April is too rainy). I flip for rose, jasmine, and citrus-scented products, and can even get down with a vaguely-medicinal scent. I’ve posted before about how much I love the full, round, smell of grape jelly, and a lot of my favorite products are honey-based (Shara Shara Honeybomb and Shea Moisture Mankura Honey and Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Mask).
Obviously, smell isn’t the be all and end all of product successes, but it is important. I’ve recently found some products that do wonders for my skin, but are consistently pushed to the back of my beauty shelf.
Tonymoly Floria Berry Whitening Sleeping Pack-Cherry
I love how this pack feels on my skin. I can absolutely see results when I use it. But, damn if it doesn’t smell like the cherry tooth-cleaning stuff they use at my dentist. Rather than having a pure and clear cherry smell, the scent seems chalky. Luckily, the odor fades pretty quickly after application, but if given a choice between wine (the Innisfree Wine Jelly pack) and the dentist, I’m choosing wine.
The Face Shop Rice Water Cleansing Wipes
This one kills me, because I love these wipes. I love the packaging, I love the size of the wipes, I love how well they work. Sadly, they smell EXACTLY like the cleaning spray we use to disinfect the floors after my dog, Gene, goes on them. While these wipes don’t actually smell like animal waste, they have a scent that, to me, is closely associated with cleaning up said waste.
However, when the time comes, I’d much rather find a new floor disinfectant than find a new line of cleansing wipes.
