Wow. The name of this product is a mouthful. I feel like there’s a pun there, but I don’t know if it’s worth it to go looking for it.
In terms of lip color, I like matte and I like stains. Stains seem to have fallen out of favor, and mattes are on the ascendency. Honestly, I don’t even care that much, as long as I’m not expecting to have a mirror on my lips (and my unruly hair ALWAYS gets caught in the gloss).
This lip pencil is designed to be blurred to create an ombre effect. It can be combined with another color in the line, or blended into one’s natural lip color. I’m not a fan of doing that, so I just wear it on its own.
I also veered away from the deep reds I usually favor and got the lip pencil in “I Like to Mauve It, Mauve It,” which might take the cake as most cringe-inducing product name ever. The color is great, and is just slightly darker than my natural lip-tone. The pencil application works well, especially since it is easy to clean up when I overdraw.
The pencil also stays on for a lot longer than higher-end matte lip colors I’ve tried. I usually have about 2 hours between when I put on my makeup (around 6:45) and when I first encounter other human beings (8:30). In that time, I normally also get coffee and eat breakfast. This lipstick not only lasts, but does not transfer at all to the coffee lid or the english muffin I’m eating.
I was so pleased with this lipstick that I went out and bought a second one, in a more classic red. Super big thumbs up on this lipstick.
